Dutch hard rock band Kiss of Dawn was founded at the dawn of 2007 when Martin Belder(guitar), Erwin Keijzer(bass guitar) and Patrick van der Meij(drums),
already having rehearsed together for over six months, recruited charismatic vocalist Lou DeScorpio, formerly vocal cordist with rockers Winter’s Fall.
Those months of the threesome playing together had earned them a number of songs large enough for them to start gigging actively within only a few weeks. The next ten months’ gigging, as well as writing and playing together earned the band the invaluable experience required to take its first baby steps into the recording studio: in the summer of 2007 the band recorded their first demo “Disrupting Paradise” in one long day. However, due to a throat surgery being performed on DeScorpio -his tonsils were removed after repeatedly being the source of a throat infection- in November the same year, the band was out of the gigging business for over two months, but the band, being driven to play with surgical precision as well, continued rehearsing and writing.
In January 2008 the band reappeared on the live scene, more mature and tighter than ever before, with new songs and a reinvigorated vocal performance by DeScorpio. The band put on great shows together with noted heavy metal and hard rock acts like Calibern, Delibarate Jeopardization and The LOO as well as an appearance at the RoadGrill heavy metal festival, hosted by local metal heroes Roadkill. The very same day the second Kiss of Dawn EP, “Of Retribution Just” was presented to the audience.

The music of Kiss of Dawn is best described as a mixture of the sound of the bands’ heroes of seventies and eighties hard rock, combined with some flavours of modern heavy metal, giving them a sounds that is unique in the realm of heavy rock and metal. Heavy guitars riffs are matched with powerful, melodic vocals, a hard-grooving rhythm section is combined with melodic choruses and intense guitar solos are added to driving bass lines. Even the ladies’ hearts are won with one of the emotional ballads the band has written.

Kiss of Dawn is a band that values quality musicianship and well-written compositions and strives to combine those values with the intensity and power of hard rock music in an energetic live show.
